Sri Lanka's seasoned all-rounder and former national skipper Angelo Mathews became a father again when his wife Heshani gave birth to the couple's fourth child on Thursday, it is learned. 

"She was expecting the child, and the 36-year-old all- rounder rushed to the hospital immediately after the first Test, which the visiting Pakistan team won by four wickets at the Galle international cricket grounds", another source confirmed. 

Earlier, Angelo's father, Tyronne Mathews said 'the new-born baby girl and her mother are in sound health at  Colombo's Ninewells Hospital. 

Heshanie and Angelo Mathews got married in 2013, and their reception took place at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel where the then President President Mahinda Rajapaksa was one of the notable attendees at this wedding.

Angelo Mathews, one of the finest all-rounders in the cricketing world and Heshanie dated each other for more than six years before tying the knot in 2013. She is often spotted in the stands cheering her husband.

"We will name the third daugher soon. Angelo's first child (son) is a good swimmer. Only time will tell whether he adopts cricket like his father", Tyronne Mathews added. 

The team has been granted a rest day on Friday and on Saturday afternoon (2.00 - 5.00 pm) the practice session has been scheduled. Angelo Mathews has been allowed permission to join the team before the practice session. (Bipin Dani)
