B-Love Kandy were crowned champions of the fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) following their five-wicket win over Dambulla Aura in the final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, August 20.

Dambulla were bang on point throughout the league phase as they topped the points table with 12 points courtesy of six wins. On the other hand, Kandy had a mixed season in the group stage, winning four matches and losing as many to make their place in the playoffs.

Following their win against Galle Titans in Qualifier 2, B-Love Kandy locked horns with table-toppers Dambulla in less than 24 hours in the summit clash. A win in the final meant that Kandy broke Jaffna Kings’ stranglehold on the trophy, who won a record three titles on the trot since the inception of the league.

Most Runs in LPL 2023:

  • Wanindu Hasaranga top-scored in the fourth edition of the top-tier league as he accumulated 279 runs in 10 matches, lacing it with two fifties at an average of 34.87.

Most wickets in LPL 2023:

  • After dazzling with the bat, Hasaranga also stood on top with the ball as he claimed 19 wickets in 10 appearances which featured one five-for and as many four-fers.

Most fifty-plus scores in LPL 2023:

  • Plying his trade for Galle Titans, Tim Seifert got the most fifty-plus scores with three under his belt followed by a string of players which includes Shoaib Malik and Babar Azam among others who have two half-centuries in the LPL 2023.

Most centuries in LPL 2023:

  • Colombo Strikers' star batter Babar Azam notched up the only century (104 runs) in the competition during a match against Galle Titans.

Most Dismissals by wicketkeeper in LPL 2023:

  • B-Love Kandy's Dinesh Chandimal returned with seven dismissals behind the stumps and as many catches in 10 matches, making it the most dismissals by a keeper in the LPL 2023. (CT)
