Colombo, Mar. 8 (Daily Mirror) - St Anthony’s skipper Thisara Ekanayake continued his batting form when he cracked 119 against Wesley on day one of the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Narahenpita.

This was Thisara’s fourth ton of the season against opponents in Colombo and in the process he broke a Antonian record that stood for 106 years that of ace batsman Jack Anderson who in 1918 scored centuries against three Colombo schools Wesley, St Benedict’s and S. Thomas’.

Thisara’s previous three tons were scored against Nalanda, St Joseph’s and St Peter’s. Thisara joins five other Antonians who have scored four centuries in a school cricket season namely A.C.M. Lafir, Charlie Joseph, S.W. Seneviratne, Bernard Perera and Hiran Wickramasekera.

Thisara’s ton helped the Antonians taking first lease of the wicket make a formidable score of 266 for 9 declared and Wesley in their turn ended the day on 13 for 1.

Meanwhile, Trinity left arm pacer Manula Kularatne wrecked St Joseph’s batting with an impressive match figure of 8 for 23 to bundle them out for a meager score of 41 runs. But the Josephians fought back to bowl out Trinity for 92 and St Joseph’s batting the second time ended the day on 62 for 2.
