A small government school in Kilinochchi has received a building to house a library for its students and teachers through the generosity of Ceylinco Life and the Sri Lanka Army.
The life insurance leader and the Army’s 57 Division collaborated to construct the building for the KN/ Kanagambikaikulam G. T. M. School, which accommodates 372 students in Grades one to 11.
This is the 66th classroom building funded by Ceylinco Life for a rural school in Sri Lanka and the second donated by the company this year. Three more classroom buildings are under construction at beneficiary schools for completion in 2017 under this programme commenced by Ceylinco Life in 2004.
The 57 Division based in Kilinochchi donated the labour and supervised the construction of the library building with funds provided by Ceylinco Life.
The ceremony to hand over the completed building was graced by 57 Division Divisional Commander Brigadier Anura Sudasinghe as the chief guest. Officers of the 57 Division as well as Zonal Director of Education K. Muruguvel also attended the event.
Commencing with a classroom built for the Tissa Primary School in Lunugamvehera, Ceylinco Life’s schools infrastructure project has traversed the length and breadth of Sri Lanka, assisting schools in diverse locations such as Jaffna, Mannar, Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Sittandy, Mollipatana Ayithyamalai, Embilipitiya, Nivitigala, Beligala, Avissawella, Deniyaya, Kamburupitiya, Bandarawela, Haputale, Rambukkana, Kandy, Pilimatalawa, Madulkele, Rikillagaskada, Rajawella, Matale, Galgamuwa, Padaviya, Boraluwewa, Anuradhapura, Moneragala, Anamaduwa and Matugama.
