‘My Friend’, a high impact Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project steered by cricketer Angelo Mathews and entrepreneur Fouzul Hameed, with support from Hameedia, Sri Lanka’s leading menswear specialist, reaffirms its commitment to nurture the future generation on the occasion of the Children’s Day.
‘My Friend’ is aimed at uplifting, educating and empowering underprivileged children to live a better life. The ‘My Friend’ project has achieved significant milestones in inspiring and motivating these children to aim higher over the last x years.
Sharing his thoughts, Fouzul Hameed – Managing Director, Hameedia said, “Children are our most important national asset and educating and supporting their growth and development is our duty. The aim of the initiative is to provide educational and learning opportunities for these children which will result in a brighter future for the country. This realization has inspired us to conceptualize ‘My Friend’, which has funded thousands of less-fortunate school children, helping them overcome financial obstacles to pursue their schooling. The brand ambassador, Angelo Matthews, captain of the national cricket team has been an inspirational force behind the project. We are grateful to him for his tireless engagement with the children to achieve the vision of the project of providing a better quality of life to less fortunate children, who are always delighted to have him amongst them. The ‘My Friend’ projects is thankful to its generous donors - Vision Care, Swedish Trading, Ramini Ferando, Hayleys Consumer and Colombo Jewelly stores - who have supported the initiative.”
In the previous year, the ‘My Friend’ program consisted of motivational speeches from Angelo Mathews, Managing Director and CEO of Chevron Lubricants - Kishu Gomes, the founder of Salon Nayana – Nayana Karunaratne; and Singer – Santhush Weeraman. This year too, ‘My Friend’ has planned impactful activities for celebrating Children’s Day, with support from Hameedia.
