People’s Bank commemorates anniversary with contribution to Sri Dalada Maligawa

People’s Bank recently made a contribution to the Buddhist Welfare Scholarship Fund of the Sri Dalada Maligawa as a social service in commemoration of their 60th anniversary. 


Ranjith Kodituwakku, Chief Executive Officer/ General Manager, People’s Bank offered the donation to Pradeep Nilanga Dale, Diyawadana Nileme of the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy. 


Through this programme, over 180 students from low income families were offered scholarships worth over Rs.10 million over a period of 3 years. The contribution was made by the staff of the People’s Bank Regional Head Office in Kandy, their families and other associates. The Buddhist Welfare Scholarship, based at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy was established in 1996 with People’s Bank as a main contributor. 


Ranjith Kodituwakku offered a special 60th anniversary edition of the ‘Bankuwai Obai’ magazine to Diyawadana Nilame on the occasion.  


An alms giving was held at the MahaSanga at the Asgiriya Temple to commemorate People’s Bank’s 60th anniversary. Venerable Narampanawe Ananda Thera, Prelate of the Asgiriya Temple and Deputy Registrar of the Asigiriya Chapter of the Shayamopali Maha Nikiaya and other Buddhist monks attended and participated in the almsgiving. 


Mahinda Premanath - Deputy General Manager of Channel Management, People’s Bank, Krishantha Hissalla, Director of Media and Special Projects Bureau of Sri Dalada Maligawa, Buddhika Ranatungage - Kandy Regional Manager, People’s Bank, Manjula Dissanayake - Badulla Regional Manager, Janaka Jayasinghe - Kandy Branch Manager, Chamini Wicrkamaratne–Senkadagala Branch Manager and other People’s Bank officials were present at the occasion. 


The presentation of scholarships and the alms giving were held in accordance with the required health guidelines.
