Burden on the EPF - Harsha predicts outcome of DDR

Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Harsha de Silva questioned the government's decision to impose the burden of Domestic Debt Restructuring (DDR) on the Employees Provident Fund.

"As the opposition we were against fact that the complete burden has been thrust on the EPF," he said.

On Tuesday, the MP predicted that share values of certain banks will increase, while certain other individuals who have invested in bonds will make significant profits.

"Meanwhile over the next 21 days, there will be a decision made on the EPF, made on behalf of 2.5 million workers," he said predicting the outcome of the DDR process.
