New president of Int’l Peace Conference arrives



 

 

Former President Maithripala Sirisena, who has been appointed as the new President of the International Peace Conference, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) last night (25).

Mr. Sirisena also participated as an international observer at the elections held in Cambodia.

Speaking on the Cambodian election after arriving at the airport, he said it was conducted impartially without corruption or violence.

He further said that 80% of the member countries in the United Nations are listed under this new peace conference.

Mr. Sirisena arrived at 10.55 last night from Kuala Lumpur aboard Malayasian Airlines flight HM-179.

A group from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Women's Organization and Sri Lanka Freedom Party electoral organizers also welcomed him at the BIA "Gold Route" arrival lounge to welcome him.
