A good education in a prestige school and University education is the key to be an upright MP.

In other countries yes, not in SL. The education system should changed . Start by teaching morality MORAL SCIENCE . The country is in depraved and corrupt condition , where people have no moral values. Just look at the educated crooks in the parliament and the administrative bureaucrats. Every transaction they do is crooked or corrupt.

Don't say that they are good at paying other people’s electricity bills for wedding functions, though belatedly and selectively, ensuring they are future leaders, selecting Party Electorate Organisers!!!

Please do not allow our school children to visit parliament. Because when they saw our noble MPs are fighting they may behave the same at schools, so as a school teachers we find it difficult to manage the discipline at our schools.

Whatever the school they go, they do the same thing? Royals (RK< RW) stolen the central bank, Ananda (GoRa, BaRa) destroyed the whole country by introducing 10-20%, Nalanda/Thurstan (Myna) became the Ali Baba or the head of 200 thieves, many more to come including NaRa, SP both from Santa Tomas!

A lot depends on upbringing by families who hold high moral values. Academic education is very important, moral education is equally important. There are MPs who are qualified and willing to serve the people, the corrupt ones will not allow them to function. This evident in our day to day life, from the vegetable vendor to the top government official, they leave their homes to the work place with the intention to cheat. They take a lot of pride in doing so. The 225 are a gang of thieves, cover for each other. So they will stoop to any level.

To the very lowest part as they are not educated and living stooges and a waste to space.

Could we say we have a parliament elected by the people,of the people ,for the people?Or the Thieves gathering place
Do we have a democracy or a bunch of crazy people
making hay while the sun is shining?
Did the people" chase the thieves?
They came back with clothes changed and more perks.
We seem to have an autocracy disguised as democracy.

Sri Lankan politician Saturday, 09 March 2024 06:44 PM
In Sri Lanka getting elected to parliament is like winning a lottery . No formal education is necessary and no experience is required. You may be a drug trafficker murderer bus driver or an ordinary farmer. Once elected you are set for life and amass all the wealth you need by hook or by crook for the rest of your life time and the sky is the limit.

Start from Wimalaya to see result Friday, 15 March 2024 05:28 PM
There is one way you can bring some sense. Let the Income Tax Dept. and the Bribery commission do their job properly. Dry up their source of illegal income, they will be under control through fear. What happened to the inquiry of Wimalya about several millions he has stashed?

The same thing that will happen to Mullakheliya if he is released. The trial will be adjourned indefinitely until a pliable judge can be found. The fault is not in the system. We are the fault.

Keheliya saga shows the calibre of our politicians. This crook was caught after about 20 yrs in the parliament and this incident shows the typical character of him having had previous 'no confidence' motions etc. Nothing will deter them. If his dealings are investigated over his period it is rational possibility that , the country would have been plundered multi billions just by this single politician. As a health minister his prime duty was to preserve life, but his actions were to 'murder people'. This is classical of how low our politicians are!!!. After LTTE, the biggest curse of Lanka are our politicians itself. Unless the whole system is changed, such politicians will continue to be the curse of Lanka.
