Not just him, but the entire government must step down.

Utterly foolish statement. Why should such a popular government resign? Speaker or any other MP who has deceited must resign

Before he resigns, the President needs to remove him from this position as well as the party.

Dilakshan Seneviratne Friday, 13 December 2024 07:28 AM
Constitutionally that’s not possible. President has no power to remove him, due to separation of powers between executive and legislature.
He has to resign or be removed by a no confidence motion in Parliament.
I believe he will resign on Tuesday when Parliament sits.

NPP is supposed to introduce a new era of clean politics. We voted for the NPP MPs because they were supposed to make a break from past politicians.
The speaker is the leader of all MP's. So he must be held to a very high standard of behaviour.
Going on about what X and Y did in the past will never change this country.
Actions speak louder than words.
Resign and show the people that no one is above the law.

It is not a question of whether the post requires a PhD. It is the fact that the 3rd highest citizen of the country has lied and committed a fraud. And coming from a party/government that claims to stand for integrity.
THAT is the issue.

Yes, there is a so-called professor selling medications/ food supplements in Japura without any data or publications but using his position to fool people into thinking that their effectiveness is scientifically proven

He needs to resign from the parliament as well. Ranwala and NPP top leaders must also apologize to the country for misrepresenting of his credentials.

People of this country voted for NPP even without looking at the credentials of its candidates trusting AKD, Harini, Tilvin and the coalition.
People had high hopes that the NPP is a coalition with highest integrity, trust and promise.
Don't let corrupted individuals to ruin NPP's credibility.
I thought so when this man appeared just like an Eskimo on the very first day with lack of common sense.
It's prudent at this moment for AKD, Harini, Tilvin and NPP to get rid of this man without no further delays, if he has lied to the public.
If he has not lied, tell him to declare his credentials tomorrow it self and settle this integrity issue.
Please oblige before it is too late.
Thank you

AKD should show his leadership and end this issue now. When in opposition he was talking like a lion but now hiding away from the crisis.

My guess is his deception was 30 years ago and probably NPP, his colleagues, even his family may not have known. If he led a good citizens life who would bother to check his credentials? , In real life, there are many more ones like this. He was found out only because he was made speaker.
He definitely has to resign and NPP has to now find out right now, if there are other MPs with skeletons in their cupboards.
This doesn’t in any way affect this government’s credentials as well as the impeccable character and record of AKD.

As someone who voted for the NPP in 2019, I expected much more from them. While they may have other priorities, failing to address the falsified qualifications of their MPs will damage the trust between the people and the party, rendering all their efforts meaningless. A clear example of this is what happened with RW in the recent election. Even though he stabilized the country in 2022, he was still rejected by the majority. If the JVP was able to remove a member from parliament for corruption during Chandrika's government, why can’t they take action now if the complaints are legitimate?

NPP has not failed. It is the SriLankan education system, mentality, and culture which has failed. Truthfulness and honour have left us a long time ago. Knowledge we may have with not much experience. We are short on Education, which basically comes from one's parents, grand parents, elders, teachers, religious leaders, and friends. One reaps the crop of what one has sown. They say: "Nayagey petiya, nai petiya" From Guththila: No matter how long one washes charcoal with milk, one cannot make it white.

Even with these PhD's, they were dumb enough to believe that they would not be found out in this day and age of IT. Perhaps they should be administered an IQ test !

This is not big issue but just ask him to resign and replace him with some one soon : it is simple and doesn’t need to prolong it more : just change him with someone / it is simple
No headache: in politics it is not big issue

Speaker resigned. Would this have been possible in any previous government? All these opposition parties that are trying to point fingers keep in mind that there might be a bad apple or two and it's clearly evident that it's been rectified. Where were all of you when some of the previous governments had more than 60% of Mp's that didn't even have OL's or were thieves and kassipu dealers. Suddenly everyone wants to destabilise this government. Not happening.

Why you are comparing to the previous governments? This particular government came to change this culture isn’t it?

Forget falsifying documents, if any candidate has introduved themselves to the people of this country with that kind of salutation for their names, then they should be accountable for what they said and done.
In my head, Mr. Rawala must be sacked from the Parliament under the theme CLEAN THE PARLIAMENT that NPP has taken to the people.
If there are others who are in the similar situation, they must also be treated in the same way - SACK THEM!!

As he cheated the people, he must step down or resign soon.
