Sithaka tea sets record at weekly auction with Rs.4,800 per kg



In a remarkable event at this week’s tea auction on November 7 and 8, 2023, Avissawella Tea Factory, trading its produce under the prestigious Sithaka mark, set an unprecedented record. 


An invoice of OP1 grade tea fetched a stellar Rs.4,800 per kilogramme, the highest price ever achieved for this grade.


Located in the Ratnapura district, within the Sabaragamuwa province, the Avissawella Tea Factory is an embodiment of modernity in the tea industry. 


Under the vigilant chairmanship of Lalith Liyanage of RTS Holdings Group, the facility has integrated advanced machinery and automation throughout its processing chain. This technological adoption underscores the factory’s dedication to producing superior quality Orthodox black tea.

Vintage Teas (Pvt.) Ltd made the winning bid for this record-setting batch, with Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC facilitating a successful marketing strategy.
