With the recent entry of the dual interface EMV card introduced under the Visa branding of payWave by Sampath Bank, in order to offer its customers innovation and cutting-edge technology, it has set the benchmark of opening new doors for its valued clients by offering convenience and security through its latest product under the Visa infinite card branding.
Lanka Security Printing (Pvt.) Ltd (LSP) together with its principals Oberthur Technologies was the card supplier to roll out the first-ever Visa payWave infinite card for Sampath Bank. With Visa payWave, customers and merchants can now enjoy a range of unprecedented benefits – primarily the benefit and convenience of not having to stand in long lines at merchant outlets. With a Visa payWave card, customers have to simply tap their Visa payWave card at a payWave-enabled terminal to pay for their purchases and services, which will complete the transaction in a matter of seconds. Visa payWave cardholders can use their contactless cards without having to enter the pin or sign transaction receipts. Customers can also enjoy their shopping experience oversees as Visa payWave is accepted in many foreign countries.
LSP thanks the efforts of all stakeholders and the lead role of Sampath Bank for its decision to drive the payment card industry to the contactless environment of financial transactions through Visa infinite payWave card, which has made way to many more opportunities and convenience of services that can be offered through such technologies.
LSP firmly believes that it is time that all stakeholders in the payment card industry and the relevant authorities, agencies and ministries should work closely together in creating more cashless transactions, which will benefit the economy and contribute towards a secured digital infrastructure with interoperability of services in a world moving towards internet of things (IoT) and creating a stronger control of bringing in all digital transactions through the card centres of the banking and financial institutions of Sri Lanka.
Adapting an open platform of accepting all types of financial cards (branded, co-branded, domestic branded and unbranded) up to microfinance level for each and every purchases, services including commuting and avoiding any close loop technologies will benefit the payment card industry of Sri Lanka, while it brings convenience to the cardholders.
