Sri Lankan music legends honoured at Victorian Parliament


Sri Lankan music legends, Rookantha Goonatillake  and Chandralekha Perera were honoured at the Victorian Parliament in Australia for their outstanding contributions to the Sri Lankan music Industry and the Sri Lankan community of Australia.

Both artists were presented with special awards at an event hosted by the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council  Evan Mulholland MP  and attended by notable figures, including the Opposition Leader, John Pesutto , and Richard Welch MP.

The event was organised by prominent Australian lawyer, Mr. Shawn Mendis, who played a pivotal role in bringing this celebration to life.

Rookantha Goonatillake and Chandralekha Perera’s daughters Raini Charuka Goonatillake  and  Windy Goonatillake were also recognised at the event.

Sanuka Wickramasinghe was also presented with a special award.

Special recognition is given to 7 Zone Entertainment Pty Ltd, the company responsible for bringing these artists to Australia.

7 Zone Entertainment is also organizing a massive music festival in Melbourne, Australia, on 31st August 2024, at the famous Palais Theatre in St. Kilda.

The company is led by legendary Sri Lankan cricketer TM Dilshan, along with Thari Jayatillaka and Shehan De Silva.
