15-year-old schoolgirl impregnated, mother’s paramour arrested

An individual who raped and impregnated a 15-year-old schoolgirl was arrested yesterday by Nochchiyagama Police.   

Investigations revealed that the 49-year-old suspect was her mother’s paramour. He was a resident of Palliyawatta in Hendala in the Wattala Police area who had been a welcome visitor at the victim’s house.   

Police said the girl who fell unconscious in the house had been admitted to Nochchiyagama Hospital and transferred to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital where the doctors examined her to find that she was pregnant.   
She stated to police that she had been raped by the suspect. The Nochchiyagama Police are conducting further investigations.
