250,000 people hit by water scarcity over dry spell

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said around 250,000 people are experiencing drinking water problems due to the dry weather conditions.    The DMC, in its latest situation report issued yesterday said Jaffna and Vavuniya are still the most affected districts with over 71,000 people from more than 22,000 families not having access to drinkable water.  
According to the DMC, the Eastern Province as well as the Sabaragamuwa Province had a combined total of over 31,000 struggling families.
