900 Covid infected pregnant mothers under treatment

  • Others urged to receive the vaccine from the MOH Office or from the nearest Hospital
  • Pregnant mothers advised not to visit crowded places
  • Covid infected mothers should undergo home quarantine only on the advice of a medical specialist

Some 4,200 pregnant mothers have been infected with COVID-19 so far in Sri Lanka while 900 of them are under medical treatment at present, Family Health Bureau Director, Dr. Chitramali de Silva said.


She told a news conference of the Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) that thirty-two Covid infected pregnant mothers have died so far.


The Director said that 75 per cent of the pregnant mothers have received the Covid vaccine by now and urged all the pregnant mothers to receive the vaccine from the MOH Office or from the nearest hospital.
She advised them not to visit crowded places ad avoid people with Covid-like symptoms. 

She sad Covid infected mothers should undergo home quarantine only on the advice of a medical specialist.
She also requested pregnant mothers who are not Covid infected not to nurse other Covid infected persons at home and advised them to keep away from them as possible.
