A consignment of inferior quality blood sugar checking strips are to be imported under the guise of spot purchasing, a informant from the Ministry of Health said yesterday.    A sum of Rs 380 million has been allocated for the consignment. 

“ The blood sugar testing strips have been priced at Rs.85/- per strip in spite of the same item being available at Rs.15/-  It was also reported that the supplier of the equipment had not been registered with the National Medical Equipment Regulatory Commisison.
