AIIB to Fund 130 MW Sampur Solar Power Park Joint Venture



Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will finance  the 130 MW ground mount solar power park in Sampur to be implemented as a  joint venture between the Ceylon Electricity Board and India’s National  Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), a Minister said.  

 

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said on his  Twitter that a discussion was held among the officials of NTPC, CEB,  Sustainable Energy Authority EA & AIIB on the CEB-NTPC joint venture  development of the 130 MW Sampur Ground Mount Solar Power Park.  


 Energy permit for the first phase of 50 MW power plant  will be issued next week and discussions are ongoing with AIIB to raise the finances required for the development of the transmission lines &  project.  “AIIB officials at the meeting communicated the ability to  finance USD 200 Million for transmission & grid development in SL  & USD 20 Million for project development,” the minister said.
