Activist Dhaniz Ali gets prison sentence for illegal use of mobile phone inside cell

Activist Dhaniz Ali who is in remand custody  for forcibly entering the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and disrupting the broadcast, was found in a possession of a mobile phone in the new Magazine Prison. Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said the accused was produced before the Prison Tribunal over possession of prohibited substance inside the cell. 

The spokesman said the suspect pleaded guilty to the charge before the Colombo Additional District Judge and was sentenced to 14 days imprisonment and transferred to Welikada Prison.


Earlier, Dhaniz Ali who was arrested for forcibly entering the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation was remanded until August 15 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amarasinghe.
