Administering booster shots on fully vaccinated people discussed



  • Those who have not received any dose of the COVID-19 should be vaccinated as soon as possible
  • Public advised to strictly adhere to health recommendations imposed by the government as the next months are extremely critical

Giving a Covid-19 vaccine booster shot for fully vaccinated people was discussed with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of COVID-19, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said. 

He said that many countries have already started giving the third dose as a booster shot.  


Accordingly, the President instructed to take immediate steps to obtain the required quantity as required to administer the public with the third dose.  


“We have already given the first dose to 93% of the people in the country. Also, 23% of the first and second doses have been given,” General Silva said.  


He urged the public to strictly adhere to the health recommendations imposed by the government as the next months are extremely critical.   


The Army Commander also said that those who have not received any dose of the COVID-19 should be vaccinated as soon as possible.
