The adolescents  will be vaccinated with Pfizer’s COVID-19 jabs only at hospitals under medical care, a minister said.

The government has taken a decision to give Covid jabs to all those aged between 15 and 19 following recommendations by the experts’ committee appointed in this regard.

State Minister of Manufacturing, Supply and Regulations Prof. Channa Jayasumana told Daily Mirror that those aged above 12 and with comorbidity and congenital disabilities would also be vaccinated.

“We vaccinate them only at hospitals under medical supervision. We have secured sufficient vaccines now. Within the next five weeks, we will receive four million doses of Pfizer vaccines.

We have enough supplies secured at the moment,” he said.

Sri Lanka has almost completed the vaccination of target groups at the moment.

“At hospitals, Oxygen dependency of patients has drastically dropped. It means people have developed antibodies,” he said.
