Air quality in Colombo and Kegalle Districts dropped again yesterday, as per the data put out by the National Building Research Organization (NBRO).
Accordingly the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Colombo and Gampaha were over 150 as of yesterday. All people in these areas could experience health effects while sensitive groups such as children and older people might experience severe health effects. However air quality which was low in Jaffna, Puttalam, Badulla and Polonnaruwa Districts which were low during the weekend has improved according to NBRO. It was confirmed earlier that Sri Lanka’s air quality has declined as a result of polluted air which is moving in from India with the winds. Air quality has been fluctuating with the weather pattern during the past few days especially with showers.
