All hospitals island-wide will be converted into hospitals where COVID-19 patients could be treated within this week, Chairman of State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) Dr.Prasanna Gunasena said.  He said it had been observed that people had shown reluctance to seek medical care at hospitals when they feel unfit.   “People are kindly requested to go to the nearest hospital whenever symptoms similar to COVID-19 appear without endangering others,” he said.   

“People may be reluctant to seek medical assistance at hospitals due to the recent videos and photos shared on social media,” he underscored. He said the current congestion at hospitals is being addressed and people should not be reluctant to go to hospitals. Moreover, Dr Gunasena said in a situation where the Delta variant is spreading like wildfire in Sri Lanka, it is most essential that people refrain from attending large gatherings.
