• Many in the govt. want opposition support to overcome pandemic

A committee comprising government and opposition members is to be formed to face the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a Minister told Parliament yesterday. 

Minister Chamal Rajapaksa who responded to a question raised by Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella said the government is planning to set up a committee comprising government and opposition members in accordance with the Disaster Management Act.

“We are discussing with the Minister of Health to form a joint committee to face the pandemic,” Minister Rajapaksa said.
