Another Wild elephant electrocuted

Another wild elephant in Anuradhapura wildlife zone had fallen prey to the human-elephant conflict. It had been electrocuted when it entered a home garden in Ihala Kongaswewa area in the early hours of last morning.   


Investigations revealed that the owner of the home garden had laid live wires to protect his home garden crops from wild animals.   


Range Wildlife Asst. P.B.Bamunusinghe said the jumbo was 7ft tall and about 15 years of age .   


The 45 year old owner of the home garden was taken into custody and he was to be produced in court.
