Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and Venerable Pahiyangala Ananda Sagara Thera visited the Kepungoda beach which was affected by the fire that broke out in the  X-press Pearl ship. 

 The ill-fated ship caught fire earlier this year and the religious leaders urged the government to file legal action against the owner of the ship in the International Courts.
