An Army sergeant had been arrested yesterday on suspicion of stealing 25kilos of rice from a trishaw parked in Moneragala town.   

Police that initiated investigations of the complaint in this regard examined the CCTV recordings in the vicinity to identify the suspect.   

Investigations revealed that the 33-year-old suspect army sergeant was a resident of Hulandawa in Moneragala attached to an army camp in the Kurunegala area.   He was to be produced before the Moneragala magistrate.   HQI P.S. Chaminda is conducting investigations.
