Army and rehabilitated LTTE cadres carry out agricultural projects

The Army has joined hands with rehabilitated LTTE cadres to develop several areas of the war torn North and East.   

They have implemented a series of agricultural development projects in Jaffna, Thoppigala, Aralaganwila, Vellankulam, Puliyankulama areas in their endeavour to turn the old battle fields into cultivated land.  
Director of the Army Agricultural and Livestock Directorate Brig. Arosh Rajapakse said the ongoing agricultural development programme was a concept of the Army Commander Gen, Shavendra Silva.   He said 39 graduates and post-graduates, 1832 army personnel, 84 rehabilitated LTTE cadres and 575 unemployed young men had been deployed to implement the programme which commenced on January 04.
