A group of young men and women including 17 students of a private university who attended a birthday party of a fellow student were arrested by Kahatuduwa Police for consuming drugs and for misbehaving.   
Police said three young women were suspected of engaging in prostitution. The party had been organized at a residence which belonged to a housing scheme in Uduwana in Homagama. The house had been rented for Rs. 45,000 by a university student from Diyathalawa area to celebrate his 22nd birthday. 

Investigations revealed that drugs for the party had been supplied by four of his friends in Galle. During the raid, the police had seized a stock intoxicants and a car. The suspects were to be produced before Kesbewa magistrate. A police team under OIC Kahatuduwa Police CI Priyankara had carried out the raid.
