Arrested for procuring motorcar involved in shooting

 A close confidante of the underworld gangster known as  Dhanudhara, who is living in Malaysia, was arrested by the Special Task Force  (STF) for procuring the motorcar to the gunmen who fired at a house in  Gnanendra Mawatha in Ratmalana on September 10.    

 The Organised Crime Investigation Unit of the STF arrested the suspect during a raid on a house at Dombagollawatta in  Mawanella on Thursday evening (14). The suspect was in possession of  20.66 grams of heroin at the time of arrest.   


 Investigations revealed that he had hired the motorcar  from a taxi service and provided it to the gunmen. He was a 29-year-old man from Menikdiwela area.   Under interrogation, he revealed his involvement in drug  trafficking at the instigation of Dhanudhara on whose request he  procured the motorcar to the gunmen. Police said the suspect had  returned the motorcar to the Rent-a-Car Service the day after the  shooting.  He was handed over to Mawanella police for further action.
