A passenger from Ethiopia who attempted to smuggle a stock of cocaine on Sunday night (24) was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport by the Narcotic Control Unit of the Airport.
The 26 year old suspect was a Kenyan who had arrived through Doha. Officials said the suspect had 180 capsules of cocaine with a street value of Rs.300 million, hidden in his hand language and that he was arrested when he attempted to leave the airport through the Green Channel.
They said the Kenyan youth had arrived in Sri Lanka for the first time and that the Narcotic Control Unit had received intelligence regarding his arrival.
He was handed over to the Anti Narcotic Bureau for further investigations.
