Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi is looking into allegations about the incident in which a group of Sri Lankan fishermen accused that they were assaulted mid sea by some Indian Navy personnel, a diplomatic source said.   

Asserting that it was blatantly false, a High Commission spokesman said, “We do not accept that any such incident had taken place. The Indian Navy is a highly disciplined and professional force which discharges its responsibilities in an impeccable manner. India is firmly committed to addressing all fishermen related issues between India and Sri Lanka in a humanitarian manner through established bilateral mechanisms and understandings.”
