• A group of supporters of former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa attacked protesters outside Temple Trees and the Presidential Secretariat

The CID yesterday recorded statements from Director in charge of former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s security Unit, the OIC of the Kollupitiya Police in connection with attacks on ‘MynaGoGama’ and ‘GotaGoGama’ protesters on Monday.   

The Coordinating officer who organized the event at Temple Trees on Monday was also questioned by the CID over the incident.  

The IGP on Tuesday directed the DIG in charge of the CID to initiate investigations into the incident in which a group of supporters of former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa attacked protesters outside Temple Trees and Presidential Secretariat.  

Police said the respective officers have been summoned yesterday morning to record statements.
