School holidays will be shortened in August and December and the number of school days would be increased to cover the syllabi missed by children, during these additional school days, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.  

He said continual training sessions would be conducted for primary school teachers from July.   

While providing another training session for Advanced Level (A/L) teachers through the university system, a quiz review and additional programmes will be conducted for students appearing for the exam, the Minister said.  
The special educational sessions will be held in August, September and October and arrangements are being made to conduct all the training sessions in July with the daily data and information obtained from the Directors of Education in all nine Provinces, the Minister added.
