Colombo High Court yesterday acquitted former Governor Azath Salley from the case filed against him by the Attorney General. High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja acquitted Mr. Azath Salley being observing that the evidence of the prosecution witnesses had failed to establish a valued case against Mr. Azath Salley for attempting to create hatred against different ethnic groups.

The Attorney General had filed indictment against Mr. Salley for attempting to create hatred against different ethnic groups.

The complaint against Mr. Salley was made by Mohamed Muzammil and Provincial Council members.
Mr. Salley’s Counsel Maitree Gunaratne  PC pleaded court order the complainants to pay compensation to Mr. Salley.

Hence Judge Amal Ranaraja noticed the complainants to appear before court to decide compensation.
