Bodies of young couple found hanging at house in Mirigama

 The bodies of a young couple were found hanging in a room of a house at Lindara in Mirigama yesterday afternoon, Police said. 

 The deceased have been identified as aged 23 and 26 residents of Lindara, Mirigama.


 The woman’s hands were tied behind her back, while the husband’s body was found hanging near her body.
 Police suspect that the husband had strangled his wife to death, and then he too had committed suicide.
 The two victims had worked in a garment factory and had a four-year-old son, police said.


 Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the two victims had been living in the house with their parents and the family members had left the house for the wedding, but the deceased woman had remained alone in the house.


 According to the police, the husband had come to the house by leaving his son at the wedding along with other family members.
