• Allegedly abducted by two men
• Trussed up in chains and killed
• Police said the victim had been shot dead

The body of an individual who had been abducted several days ago was recovered yesterday by the Nawagamuwa Police from the Kelani River at Ranala.    

The victim has been identified as Gamini Hettiarachchi (54) of Haldummulla in Badulla who was an exorcist by profession. Police said he had been trussed up in chains and killed.   
A woman, allegedly his mistress has told police that he was abducted by two men who came on motorcycles at Ambulgama in Hanwella, where he had been living with her. She stated that he had been trussed up before being abducted.

Judging from the injuries found on the body, a senior police official said that the victim had been shot dead. Police said they examined the CCTV camera recordings at the location to find how he was trussed up and abducted.   

 Kaduwela Magistrate D. G. G. Karunaratne visited the scene and conducted the preliminary inquiry. He ordered the police to refer the body to the Colombo National Hospital mortuary and to conduct further investigations.
