Budget 2022 passed



  • Budget 2022 was approved with amendments by a majority of 93 votes
  • Government MP Wijeyadasa Rajapakse, Kumara Welgama and W.D.J. Seneviratne were absent
  • 157 voted and 64 voted against

The third reading of the budget 2022 was approved with amendments by a majority of  93 votes in Parliament yesterday with  157 voting for it  and 64 voting against. Some three members were absent during the time of voting. 


Among those who were absent were Government MP Wijeyedasa Rajapakse, Kumara Welgama and W.D.J. Seneviratne.

Government MPs Tiran Alles and Vidura Wickramanayake and Opposition MP C. V. Vigneswaran, who were absent during the second reading vote, were present this time  and voted in favour. MPs Faizal Cassim,  F.M.M. Harees, M.S. Thowfeek, Isaq Rahuman, Naseer Ahamed, Ali Sabry Raheem voted in favour.
