CAA officials raid unauthorised paddy stores in Anuradhapura



More than 800,000 kilos paddy seized

A stock of more than 800,000 kilos of paddy was seized by the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) during raids on unauthorised paddy storages in Anuradhapura district. 

Senior CAA Investigation Officer B.A.C.P. Perera said steps were taken to issue the stock of paddy from the 15 unauthorised paddy storages to the Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) at the government’s guaranteed price.
He said a team of CCA officials carried out raids on paddy storage on Rajangana Tract 06, Angamuwa, and Thambuttegama areas.


He said that the CAA was continuing raids to take action against unregistered paddy storage owners, rice mill owners and middlemen.
