• Stock included 12 gas cylinders of 12.5 kilos and eight of 7.5 kilos

A stock of 20 gas cylinders undertaken by a courier service in Hatton to be dispatched to Colombo was seized by the officials of the Consumer Affairs Authority with the help of the Hatton Police last morning. 

CAA officials said the stock included 12 gas cylinders of 12.5 kilos and eight of 7.5 kilos. They said they carried out the raid on a public complaint received through the Hatton Police.

Officer In Charge of the Nuwara Eliya District CAA Unit Ranga Karunaratne said legal action will be taken against the officials of the courier service.

He said the officials of the courier service refused to reveal the identity of the individual who handed over the stock of gas cylinders.
