CID launches probe reports of Rs. 45mn being withdrawn by three leading Galle Face protesters

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigations into reports that three leading activists of the Galle Face protest site ‘GotaGoHome’, allegedly received large amounts of funds to three local bank accounts from overseas, Police said.   

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that although no complaints have been made regarding the allegation, the CID is currently probing the incident based on reports.   

It was reported that three activists, Rathidu Senarathna also known as Ratta, Dilan Senanayake and Avishka Viraj Konara, have recently opened three new accounts at a leading bank at Union Place last week and an amount of Rs. 45 million has been deposited from overseas into these three accounts.   


According to reports, a few hours later, the activists who allegedly arrived at the bank, had withdrawn the entire amount and threatened bank officials who inquired about the reason for receiving the money.
