CID to obtain Interpol assistance to trace ruggerite Sajith Saranga

The Attorney General’s Department yesterday informed Court that the CID is expecting to obtain Interpol assistance to trace ruggerite Sajith Saranga for allegedly attacking a disabled soldier during the mob attack on the Galle Face protesters on May 9.  

Additional Solicitor General Ayesha Jinasena appearing for the CID informed Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage that the investigations have revealed suspect Sajith Saranga had left Colombo for Dubai on 7th of June at 3:15pm.  


On June 16, the Court had issued an order imposing travel restrictions on the rugby player for the purpose of arresting him at the airport if he returned to the country. 

 
The CID named ruggerite Sajith Saranga as the 29th suspect in the Galle Face attack case currently being heard at Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court. Further Magisterial inquiry has been fixed for July 6.
