COPE orders probe on gas scam

Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has requested the Auditor General to conduct an investigation on the cancellation of a tender submitted by Siam Gas and the decision to purchase gas at a higher cost, it was revealed yesterday. 

COPE therefore requested a probe on the cancellation of a term tender submitted by Siam Gas to sell gas at US $ 96 a metric ton despite the Cabinet decision and the decision to purchase from a company in Oman for $ 129 per metric ton.   


Officials of Litro Gas was summoned before COPE to probe on the questionable transaction.
It was revealed that three suppliers submitted tenders and that Siam Gas has quoted the lowest price.
