The attention of the Health Ministry was drawn to make available self-diagnosis kits for people to test themselves at home and determine whether they were Covid positive, Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) Director Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa said yesterday.

He told a news conference of the Health Promotion Bureau that the matter was also discussed at yesterday’s Covid Task Force meeting.

He said the Health Minister and Laboratory Services Unit of the Health Ministry had also paid their attention to make available self-diagnosis kits, as it was beneficial.

Dr. Batuwanthudawa said these self-diagnosis kits were widely being used in foreign countries and expressed hope that the facility could be introduced in Sri Lanka.

“If it was introduced here, it would be beneficial as people can get themselves tested for COVID-19 at home,” he said.
