Cabraal says vehicle importation for MPs was stopped last month

State Minister of Finance, Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal said yesterday that the decision to import vehicles for members of Parliament has been reversed last month and the entire follow up process has been completed. 

Issuing a special statement the State Minister said that he was prompted to issue the statement since various stories and interpretations on the importation of vehicles for the MPs were being floated by 
various groups. 


He said a decision to stop the importation of vehicles was taken by the Cabinet on May 24 and the follow up process to suspend the importation has also been completed by now after having discussions with the parties with which the orders had been placed.
