The captain was arrested from a hotel in Colombo, where he and other crew members were staying.
He said the captain, who is a Russian national, was produced before the Colombo High Court and released on a Rs. 2 million personal bond.
The CID earlier recorded statements from the captain and several others including the Chief Engineer of the vessel over the incident.
