Chinese Chamber of Commerce supports SL’s fight against COVID-19

Upon request by the Presidential Task Force for economic revival and poverty alleviation, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce deployed and made seven tents ready in only 10 days, which can meet the demand for hundreds of beds, a statement from it said.

The statement said donors include CCCSL, CCCSL member company China Harbour (CHEC), Port City Colombo and AVIC-ENG.
Since mid-April, Sri Lanka has experienced a new wave of COVID-19, facing a shortage of medical resources. Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (CCCSL) has donated medical supplies to support Sri Lanka.  On May 10, the Presidential Task Force for economic revival and poverty alleviation, issued an emergency request to Zhang Xiaoqiang, the president of CCCSL in Sri Lanka and CCCSL members, asking for assistance in setting up tents in the community movement under “10,000 Beds in 10 days” project.

This is not the first time that Chinese enterprises in Sri Lanka support the local fight against COVID. CCCSL have organised many donation activities to support Sri Lanka. Up to now, about 50 Chinese enterprises have donated equipment with a total price of more than 10 million rupee (we have the detailed record if needed).

Anton Perera, additional Secretary to the Prime Minister, Co- Secretary of Presidential Task Force for economic revival and poverty alleviation sent CCCSL a letter after the donation, to express gratitude.
