• Residents of the area said they had informed the authorities on the impending danger but to no avail

A huge Bo tree and a Sapu tree at Thilak Ratnayaka Mawatha in Asgiriya, Kandy had fallen during the torrential rain experienced in the area causing extensive damage to eight vehicles and serious injuries to two passengers in a trishaw passing the location.    

Police said the two trees in front of the police playground fell on the road at once causing damage to a trishaw, a van and six motorcars. They said the injured in the incident were admitted to Kandy National Hospital.   
Traffic on the road had come to a stand still for about one and half hours until the police, the army and the Kandy Municipal Fire Brigade cleared the obstructions.   
Residents of the area said they had informed the authorities on the impending danger but to  no avail.
