President Ranil Wickremesinghe appointed a Committee of Inquiry to investigate the actions and responses of Sri Lanka’s intelligence and security authorities in relation to the April 21, 2019 bombings yesterday.

According to the President’s Media Division, the Committee is headed by retired Judge Ms. A.N.J. De Alwis and is tasked with examining the conduct of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), the Chief of National Intelligence (CNI), and other relevant authorities.   The primary focus of the inquiry will be to evaluate how these agencies responded to prior information and intelligence provided by Indian agencies, which had warned of the impending attacks.
