A complaint was lodged by an individual at the Bribery Commission yesterday against former Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva for allegedly soliciting a sum of Rs.200 million from a Japanese company recently.
The complainant S. M. Nizar Mawlana backed by his Attorney Senaka Perera lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABoC) yesterday morning demanding an impartial inquiry into the matter.
Speaking to the media outside the CIABoC Nizar Mawlana said as soon as the incident came to light last month the former subject minister De Silva tendered his resignation from the ministerial portfolio to the former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa inviting for an inquiry by the authorities.
